BSA Troop # 24

About Us

Brief History

Troop 24 has been serving the youth of the area for over 20 years. From its humble beginnings as a small group of parents/leaders and their sons to the outstanding example of Scouting it is today, Troop 24 leaves it mark. Many of those initial leaders have gone on to hold positions within the Two Bays District and DelMarVa Council. Troop 24 repeatedly won the Two Bays District Troop of the Year award (discontinued) and has consistently earned its replacement award, "The Bay to Bay Bunch". We are proud of this strong heritage.

What We Do

Boy Scout Troop 24 serves boys ages 11 through 17 (or prior Cub Scouts age 10 who have earned the Arrow of Light). We offer the opportunity for boys to grow and become responsible members of the community. We offer fun and adventure by keeping the "outing" in Scouting. We camp all year (yes including the winter months) and we attend Summer Camp every summer. And we don't forget about family. The Troop also includes in it's calendar an annual family campout in the winter (yes a cabin is available for Moms & Dads) and an annual family whitewater rafting weekend.

What Sets Us Apart

We are traditional Boy Scout Troop, meaning it is truly a boy led program. The leaders and adults serve to guide the youth. The older Scouts serve as the example for the younger boys. The youth leadership does much of the planning and organizing. We feel this allows the boys many decision making opportunities that so many youth today are not accustom to or faced with.

When We Meet

Troop 24 meets every Monday night at the Wyoming United Methodist Church in the Family Life Center. Meetings are from 7pm to 8:30pm. The Monday immediately following a campout is reserved for a PLC – Patrol Leaders Council as well as the Troop Leader Meeting.
